Release your blocks starting with an Initial Consultation

When you’re living with constant but low-level anxiety, it shows up in your body, as well as your mind. It might feel like you’re constantly battling against yourself and the voice of your inner critic. Sleepless nights, irritable bowel flare-ups, unexplained pain, and the habits you lean on to cope can sap your energy before you’ve even started the day. Perhaps you’re reaching for caffeine in the morning, snacks and sugar-boosting comfort foods, and even nicotine to get you through the day? And maybe it’s a drink or two of alcohol in the evenings to soothe away the worries?
If you’re past your forties, this struggle often hits at the worst possible time. Your family needs you - whether you’ve got young ones to raise or older ones to look out for. You’re trying to stay on top of work, meet deadlines, and remain effective at your job. But inside, you may feel like you’re failing to keep up.
You don’t have to fight this battle on your own. With the right tools and support, you can release your anxiety blocks — and start living with more calm, focus, and freedom.
The truth is: these symptoms aren’t “just part of life.” They’re signals from your mind and body that your stress load has become too heavy. And the good news is — you don’t have to keep pushing through. This is where hypnotherapy can help. It’s not counselling or traditional psychotherapy and we don’t spend hours digging through the reasons for you feeling this way. We simply get on with training your mind to focus on what you want instead - the best outcomes for a more joyful life and relief from these symptoms.
We start with an initial consultation, the first step in a 4-6-week journey to release your blocks, ease your symptoms, and reclaim your clarity. What are the benefits of this session?
A safe, confidential space for you to talk
Your first consultation is about you. We begin by gathering your background information and listening carefully to your experiences. I’ll ask about:
Your medical history and any current treatments or medication
Your sleep patterns and energy levels
Physical issues, such as your digestion, IBS, or pains and recurring headaches
Fears, phobias, or habits like nail biting, smoking, or drinking
The specific goals you’d like to work towards
There’s space to share honestly about what’s been going on for you. Many clients feel relief just having someone listen and connect the dots between their physical symptoms, coping strategies or unhelpful habits, and the stress driving them.
Understanding how your brain and body respond
Once we’ve explored where you are now, I’ll explain what’s happening inside all of our brains in simple, practical terms. You’ll learn about:
The conscious pre-frontal cortex - your logical, rational brain, which helps with planning and problem-solving.
The emotional, unconscious brain - which governs the fight-or-flight response and can override rational thought when stress is high.
The motivating neurotransmitters - which make a difference to your sleep, appetite, chronic pain, emotional responses and stress levels.
The stress bucket - a metaphor for how stress accumulates. When your REM sleep (the stage where the brain processes the day) is disturbed, your stress bucket doesn’t empty properly and can overflow.
Clients often find this part eye-opening. Suddenly, your symptoms make sense — they’re not random, and they’re not your fault. They’re simply the result of an overloaded system.
Connecting symptoms with habits
We’ll also talk about how anxiety often leads to coping habits that make the cycle worse. For example, you might find yourself reaching for:
Extra caffeine to push through fatigue
Nicotine for an artificial boost of alertness
Sugar or comfort foods for a quick energy boost and dopamine hit
Alcohol to “switch off” in the evening
These habits might feel helpful in the moment, but they add to the stress load on your body and disturb natural sleep which aids your recovery. During the consultation, you’ll begin to see how this cycle keeps symptoms alive — and how it can be broken.
Positive actions that change everything
Here’s the hopeful part: your brain is designed to heal. By taking small, positive actions, you can lighten the stress load and allow your body to reset.
At the end of our consultation, I’ll send you over my guided relaxation track. This is a 30-minute audio designed to support better sleep - a practical tool you can use straight away.
Many clients notice improvements in their sleep and mood after listening daily to it. It becomes a cornerstone of my six-week course, helping you reset your nervous system night after night. Book in to receive your relaxation track after your IC appointment.
Benefits of starting with this consultation
An initial consultation is more than just a chat — it’s the foundation of your mindset shift and therapy journey. By the time we finish, you’ll have:
A clearer understanding of why your symptoms are happening
Practical insights into how your brain and body work together
Confirmation that your own neuroplasticity is there to support you
Awareness of the small changes you want to aim for immediately
A powerful relaxation tool to begin easing symptoms right away
Most importantly, you’ll feel reassured that there is a way forward. And I’ll start developing a personalised approach for the next steps in therapy.
