Unwind before sleep: why listen to a relaxation track?

Have you noticed how often stress and anxiety can easily build up, leaving our minds overwhelmed by the time we go to bed? But what if you could clear that mental clutter, feel more confident, and wake up feeling refreshed and creatively focused? That’s exactly what a relaxation track can do, if you listen to it often.

It’s a track I share with all my solution focused hypnotherapy clients, and they soon notice positive differences in their sleep and their ability to relax during the day. By listening to the track as you settle down, you'll be ready for a more restful night and you might fall asleep without hearing the end of the track. Get yourself comfortable and warm, lie down and make sure you won't be disturbed. You don't need to concentrate or listen to every word because the unconscious mind is always awake and listening, so the messages will still reach those parts of your mind. (Never listen to it while driving!)

What’s on a hypnotherapy relaxation track?

My relaxation track is designed to guide you into a calm, dream-like state where your unconscious mind is more open to positive suggestions. While in this deeply relaxed state, the track encourages you to:

  • Imagine how your connection with nature positively affects your well-being

  • Be in control to choose and gently direct your own thoughts

  • Draw on and build your inner confidence

  • Utilise the skills and resources you already possess

  • Embrace flexibility and adaptability in life to go with the flow

These empowering messages strengthen your positive thinking and reduce stress. Hearing these messages in a relaxed state means that you’re less likely to logic your way out of believing them. And your brain can process and file the events of the day, leaving you more prepared for the next day.

Why listen every night?

A guided relaxation makes it easier to drift off without thoughts racing through your mind. And listening to the same relaxation track consistently builds familiarity with the music and vocal sounds, so you can relax faster and go deeper into a restful state. Regular relaxation also reinforces neuroplasticity: our brain’s natural ability to rewire itself and build positive new habits. If you take a few moments to reflect on positive events of the day or write down a few gratitudes before listening, your brain will associate bedtime with peaceful, happy emotions. This improves your mood and further supports a restful night. Research* backs this up, showing that people who practice hypnosis or deep relaxation techniques before bed experience better sleep quality and reduced insomnia.

Enhancing creativity by relaxing more often

When our psychological stress bucket is full of negative thoughts or daily events which didn’t go well, it feels almost impossible to make space for being super creative. And we often attach expectations to our creative works: we want them ‘to be good’. And yet, being freely creative is one of the most therapeutic things we can do. The key is taking action  without judgement or expectation for the outcome - and simply drawing or colouring in, working with clay or wool or writing mindlessly, letting the words flow.

Many artists, musicians, and writers use meditation and guided or self-hypnosis to tap into deeper creative insights. Personally, I found that listening to a relaxation track at night helps me generate fresh ideas and focus on finishing tasks because I wake up with a more positive perspective. Adding a relaxation track into your nighttime routine can help you:

✔ Sleep better and wake up refreshed

✔ Tap into deeper creativity and intuition

✔ Increase focus and productivity

✔ Reduce stress and anxiety

✔ Feel more confident and adaptable in life

Making relaxation a habit gives my mind the space it needs to reset, recharge, and thrive. Contact me via the form below for the MP3 download or book a call, if you want to try it. Ideally, you would use the relaxation track alongside a series of hypnotherapy sessions to make the most of the healing process.
